The Beat Generation was a literary movement started by a group of authors whose work explored and influenced American culture and politics in the post-war era. The bulk of their work was published and popularized throughout the s. After the book came out, he wrote a play called “Beat Generation,” an article for Esquire on “The Philosophy of the Beat Generation,” and another for Playboy on “The Origins of the Beat Author: Louis Menand.
The Beat Generation was a transnational group of literary bohemians, and the relevance of their work might seem limited to the immediate postwar period.
